Iowa GOP Chairman Speaks on Government Shutdown
Praises House Resolution to Defund Obamacare
DES MOINES, Iowa- Today Republican Party of Iowa Chairman A.J. Spiker issued a statement on the continuing resolution being debated between the House and Senate and the current Federal government shutdown.
“I believe the House of Representatives acted correctly when it passed a resolution to ensure everyone receives equal treatment, and no special interests receive exemptions when it comes to Obamcare. The resolution passed out of the House would prevent a Federal government shutdown, ensure Congressmen don’t receive special treatment by being able to opt out of the Affordable Care Act, and would delay the individual mandate for a period of one year. It’s difficult to find anyone who likes Obamacare, much less understands it and understands how it will work. Americans are clearly against this mandate which is already proving to hurt our economy by forcing some employers to cut back the hours of their workers. I believe the House is willing to offer a compromise to avoid a Federal government shutdown but Harry Reid and the Senate leaders don’t seem to be willing to work with them.”
