Co-Chairman Kurtenbach

Jim Kurtenbach serves as Co-Chair of the Republican Party of Iowa.

Previously, Jim was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in November 2002 and re-elected in 2004. His committee appointments included Vice-Chair of Ways and Means (the tax policy committee), Vice-Chair of the Environmental Protection Committee (2003-2004) and as a member of the Human Services standing committee and the appropriations subcommittee, the State Government committee, the Commerce, Regulation and Labor Committee (2003-2004); and the joint House and Senate Education Appropriations Committee (2003-2004).

Jim was appointed by the Iowa House of Representatives as Co-Chair of the Property Tax Implementation Committee in June 2003. While serving as a legislator, Jim focused on those who cannot care for themselves and this led to his work with Representative Danny Carroll (R-Grinnell) on legislation that creates a private and public partnership to provide services to individuals with brain injuries.

In addition to professional experience in venture capital management and as a university professor, Jim has been employed as a financial officer in the construction industry and a professional pilot. Jim received a BS from Iowa State University, MS in from the University of Tulsa, and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jim serves on the state-wide board of Habitat for Humanity of Iowa; the Board of Directors for Mainstream Living, Inc., based in Ames, Iowa; and on other corporate and advisory boards for Midwest businesses.

Jim and Annmarie live south of Nevada, Iowa and have been married for 26 years. Jim and Annmarie have two adult sons.
