Resolution Honoring Martha Christine Moore
RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND HONORING THE MEMORY OF MARTHA CHRISTINE MOORE
WHEREAS, on November 24, 2009, the Republican National Committee lost a dear friend and colleague in the passing of Martha Christine Moore; and,
WHEREAS, the Republican National Committee wishes to recognize and honor Martha’s achievements as a citizen and Republican activist; and,
WHEREAS, Martha served her beloved state of Ohio with distinction as the Republican National Committeewoman from 1968 to 2004; and,
WHEREAS, Martha was elected to and served on the Ohio State Central & Executive Committee from 1950-2006, and served as the Committee’s Vice Chairman from 1968-2003; and,
WHEREAS, Martha served as a delegate or an alternate delegate to every Republican National Convention from 1972-2004; and,
WHEREAS, Martha demonstrated great leadership as a member of the Convention’s Committee on the Call, Committee on Contests, and Rules Committee and as chairman of the subcommittee for Tickets and Badges for the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 National Conventions; and
WHEREAS, Martha was the first woman elected to serve as Chairman of the Presidential Electoral College; and,
WHEREAS, Martha was a member of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars from 1982-1990; and,
WHEREAS, Martha’s active involvement in Republican politics and public service at the local, state and national levels redefined the role of women in politics and their communities; and,
WHEREAS, Martha’s commitment and relentless dedication to the ideals and principles of the Republican Party inspired others to join and support the Party; now therefore be it
RESOLVED
, that the Republican National Committee celebrates the memory of Martha Christine Moore and expresses its heartfelt condolences to the entire Moore family.Adopted by the Republican National Committee, January 29, 2010
