Out-of-Touch Congressman Braley Visits Future Home For Terrorists
Braley Would Move Terrorists To Location 3 Miles From Iowa
DES MOINES – With terrorists in the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) threating our country’s security, out-of-touch Congressman Bruce Braley has advocated for bringing captured terrorists at Guantanamo Bay to a facility that is three miles from Iowa.
Congressman Braley supported a plan that would bring terrorists to the Thomson Correctional Center in Illinois and just three months ago he voted against legislation that would have restricted the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees.
“Bruce Braley is out of touch if he thinks Iowans want him to bring the world’s dangerous criminals to Iowa’s backyard,” said Republican Party of Iowa spokesman Jahan Wilcox. “Braley’s inability to grasp the threat posed by terrorists, like those in ISIS, shows just how out of touch he is with Iowans.”

Bruce Braley, D-Dubuque, Iowa, and others said those fears are unfounded. ‘The time for fear-mongering is over,’ Braley said. ‘I have listened to my constituents all week, and they have told me with a resounding voice they want these jobs to come to their area.’” (The Associated Press, Report: Ill Prison Deal Could Create 3,000 Jobs, 11/22/09)
