Iowa GOP Chair Jeff Kaufmann’s Statement on President-Elect Trump’s Choice of Ronna Romney McDaniel as Next RNC Chair
DES MOINES— Yesterday President-Elect Donald Trump announced Ronna Romney McDaniel as his choice to replace outgoing Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus. In response, Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann stated, “Iowans were overwhelming in their support for Donald Trump. The choice of Ronna Romney McDaniel as the next Chair of the Republican National Committee is yet another case of the president-elect elevating a highly-talented and relentlessly loyal, conservative leader to the national stage. I fully support Ronna Romney McDaniel and am thrilled for the passion and talents she brings to the Committee.”
Iowa National Committeewoman Tamara Scott added, “I look forward to working with the president-elect’s nominee for chair to fulfill his promises to restore our foundations and give power back to the grassroots.”
The niece of 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, McDaniel is the current Chairwoman of the Michigan GOP and oversaw a historic win in the critical swing state.
Steve Scheffler, Iowa’s National Committeeman, stated, “In addition to her proven leadership prowess, McDaniel will skillfully oversee a fundraising operation that will protect Republican majorities in the House and Senate. It is clear that Ronna Romney McDaniel is the perfect individual to expand the Republican Party and capitalize on the GOP’s momentum from November, and we look forward to partnering with her in these efforts.”
In addition to McDaniel, President-Elect Trump named campaign veteran Bob Paduchik as his candidate for RNC Co-Chair. Chairman Kaufmann applauded this decision, stating, “Bob Paduchik is a proven leader who was integral to Trump’s Ohio victory. As a veteran of the George W. Bush and Donald Trump campaigns, Paduchik possesses a deep understanding of campaigns and elections. He is a fantastic addition and is undoubtedly the right man for the job.”
The 168 members of the RNC will finalize the decision for chair and co-chair when the Committee assembles for a vote during their January meeting.
