Iowa GOP Chair Jeff Kaufmann Unanimously Re-elected to Post

(DES MOINES) – Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann was unanimously elected to a third consecutive term today, a vote of confidence from the party’s governing body after Kaufmann oversaw three election cycles in which Iowa became a reliably red state. Under Kaufmann’s leadership, Iowa Republicans have: gained a U.S. Senate seat, flipped and expanded the majority in the Iowa Senate, retained a consistent majority in the Iowa House, retained statewide elected officials, delivered the state for President Donald Trump and elected Iowa’s first female governor.

“I’m so pleased that Chairman Kaufmann has committed to serve Iowa Republicans for another term,” said Gov. Kim Reynolds. “There hasn’t been a party chairman in recent history that has done as much as Jeff Kaufmann to advance Republican victories across the state.”

During his historically long tenure serving at the Republican Party of Iowa, Kaufmann has raised hundreds of thousands to support Republican campaigns and grassroots expansion across the state while unifying the party. Kaufmann’s focus on elections has increased both Republican voter registration and turnout across the state.

“A tireless advocate for the conservative cause, Chairman Jeff Kaufmann has led our party to incredible electoral success.  He has enthusiastically provided our candidates with the support necessary to win and has given grassroots activists a voice all across our great state,” said U.S. Senator Joni Ernst.

Prior to serving as the state party chair, Kaufmann served eight years in the Iowa House, where he was elected as Speaker Pro Tem. He is a 7th-generation family farmer from Wilton and teaches history and government at Muscatine Community College.

Jeff and his wife, Vicki, have been married for more than 30 years and have three grown sons.

Cody Hoefert, state party co-chairman from Rock Rapids, was also re-elected. Hoefert is a former board member of the Rock Rapids Chamber of Commerce, and he now maintains a chiropractic practice. Cody and his wife Jennifer have four young children.
