Yesterday, Iowa City Council Member Laura Bergus penned an opinion piece in The Cedar Rapids Gazette calling for Iowa City to abolish the police.

In this piece, Bergus says, "Even without knowing exactly what should replace policing as we know it, we must try something different."

The piece comes weeks after Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib tweeted, "No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can't be reformed." A statement Cindy Axne has yet to condemn.

Iowa Democrats are showing their true colors by not condemning the radical idea of abolishing our police. While Democrats have tried to push this idea aside, it is still being pushed by the far-left wing of their party and it's time they speak out against it.

"Cindy Axne, Rob Sand, Todd Prichard, and every Iowa Democrat should condemn this sort of radicalization in their party," said Republican Party of Iowa Communications Director Kollin Crompton. "Their silence should be taken as support. Dangerous ideas like this need to be condemned."
