In a tweet on Monday, Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar compared the United States and Israel to the likes of terrorist groups Hamas and the Taliban.

Some of Omar's colleagues asked her to clarify her statement late last night saying, "Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided. Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one's intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice... We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the US and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban."

While some of Omar's colleagues dared to stand up to this dangerous comparison, Cindy Axne has yet to say a word - continuing her dip, duck, and dodge campaign strategy. 

Iowans deserve to know if Axne agrees with Omar's comparison. If she does not, then would Axne support removing Omar from her committee assignments? Axne has already set a precedent for removing members off their committees for dangerous, misguided statements. If she doesn't support that, then is there any explanation?

"Axne must hold her Democrat colleagues to the same standard she has set for her Republican colleagues," said Republican Party of Iowa Communications Director Kollin Crompton. "The comparisons made by Congresswoman Omar are deeply disturbing and Axne's silence, if it continues, should be taken as a statement of support."
