Today, Joe Biden will sign an executive order setting a national goal for electric and zero-emission vehicles to make up 50% of new cars and trucks sold by 2030.

For Iowans, this is a slap in the face. On the campaign trail, Biden promised to, "Promote and advance renewable energy, ethanol, and other biofuels to help rural America and our nation's farmers." Today we see that the promise made to us was campaign rehtoric.

The worst part is, Biden is empowered to do this by Cindy Axne. Axne continues to pander to Iowans on the campaign trail, but in Washington, all she can do is muster 'reservations.'

Axne has never fought for Iowa farmers in fear of retaliation from her party's leaders. It's time for Axne to fight for biofuels the same way Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst fight for biofuels. It's time for Axne to stand up to her party. She must show action on biofuels, the same way Reps. Hinson, Feenstra and Miller-Meeks do.

"This 'goal' from the Biden administration is yet another slap in the face to rural Iowa and our farmers," said Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig. "Homegrown biofuels must be part of our country’s energy future and the fact that Joe Biden and the Democrat Party continue to ignore this is proof that they have turned their backs on hardworking Iowans. Iowans should demand that Cindy Axne stand up to Biden and Nancy Pelosi and represent the interests of her constituents, not party leadership and special interests.”
