COUNCIL BLUFFS — During a press conference in Council Bluffs this afternoon, Michelle Root spoke about the consequences of our broken immigration system. Her daughter, Sarah Root, was killed in a car accident by an illegal immigrant who had been deported twice.

Last week, a twice-deported illegal immigrant became the main suspect in a Des Moines triple homicide. One of these tragedies is too many, but now several innocent Iowans have had their lives taken by illegal immigrants. But if 2020 Democrats have their way, illegal immigration would be decriminalized, and illegal immigrants would even be granted taxpayer-funded health care.

Iowa’s Senators were quick to stand up for the victims, agreeing it is past time we bolster our border security:

Once again, we haven’t heard a word from Cindy Axne on the issue, despite the fact that three of her constituents were victims of this heinous crime. While she continues ignoring the problem, her constituents are being put in harm’s way.

“Silent Cindy’s refusal to work with President Trump on border security has now hit close to home, but she still hasn’t expressed any interest in working to fix the crisis at our border,” said Jeff Kaufmann, Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa. “This is weak leadership at best, and her careless attitude is endangering Iowans. For everyone’s safety, Axne should condemn the 2020 Democrats’ radical agenda and put people before politics.”
