DES MOINES - Sarah Corkery, progressive congressional candidate for the 2nd district, was asked about her thoughts on requiring an ID to vote.

This comes at a time where Congress is currently voting on the SAVE Act, which requires voters to provide proof of U.S. citizenship prior to casting their vote

Her response? In short: No, requiring an ID should not be necessary.

Below is the transcript of the question and her full response.

Speaker: "Quick question about voter ID illegal immigrants, non citizens."

Sarah Corkery: "I just walked out the door. You want to nail me with voter ID?"

Speaker: "Yeah, my hearing I would repeat, I might not hear you, but should non citizens be allowed to vote in state, local, and national elections?"

Sarah Corkery: "Non-citizens? They don’t vote? There's no voter fraud. That's a little lie you guys make up… it is. We already just, we always show our ID. By law, you shouldn't have to show your ID because you shouldn't have to have a driver's license to vote because you shouldn't. But it makes it easier for them. So I hand mine over but I think that's BS as well."

Does Sarah Corkery believe voting should be ready and available to every illegal immigrant entering our country? Would she vote for or against the Save Act if she was in Congress? How about the other Democratic congressional candidates - where do they stand?

"It's a tale as old as time: radical Democrats want our election system to be as corrupt and lawless as possible. They claim that having an ID as an American citizen to vote is racist," said Luke Wolff, Iowa GOP Spokesman. "The cornerstone of our democracy is the integrity of our elections. Without a safe and secure election process, the foundation of our democracy is compromised - and it sounds like that is part of Sarah Corkery's radical wish list."
