DES MOINES -- Reps. Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer have now been endorsed by two radical environmental groups that push far-left policies which would be a complete disaster for Iowa. The stated goals of both the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club align with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s $93 TRILLION Green New Deal, which would mean substantial job-killing regulations in Iowa, raising taxes and bankrupting Iowa families.

The Green New Deal, which would put 32,000 employees that work in Iowa’s beef industry out of a job, isn’t the only far-left agenda item the Sierra Club supports:

  • They oppose “incentives for the production of corn-based ethanol,” which would decimate Iowa’s renewable fuels industry.
    • Reminder: Iowa is the nation's largest fuel ethanol and biodiesel producer
  • They believe in “minimizing the production and consumption of domestic animals.”
    • Reminder: Iowa leads the nation in hog and egg production, is second in commercial red meat production, total number of farms, and agricultural exports

The Sierra Club’s out-of-touch agenda is not in line with the interests of Iowa’s agricultural community, and their endorsement of Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer prove they don't have the backs of Iowa farmers.

“In order to receive the endorsement of these radical anti-agriculture groups, Reps. Axne and Finkenauer surely have agreed to carry out and support their agenda -- an agenda that leaves their constituents behind and completely destroys the livelihoods of Iowans. Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer are no friends of Iowa farmers.” -- Iowa GOP Spokesman Aaron Britt
