This weekend, former Secretary of State John Kerry is set to campaign with Senate candidates Eddie Mauro, Kimberly Graham, Theresa Greenfield and Michael Franken at this Sunday’s Winter Caucus Warm-up in Dike. With all eyes on US-Iranian relations, Kerry’s presence prompts questions as to how these candidates would handle threats from the Middle East.

Keep in mind, the Iran Nuclear Deal was “a major diplomatic achievement” of John Kerry’s tenure as Secretary of State. The Hill previously reported that Kerry admitted that “some money from Iran's sanctions relief is likely to go to terrorists.”

Sunday’s campaign stop comes just shortly after the Democratic Senate candidates, like Kimberly Graham, gave weak responses to the killing of Qasem Soleimani. Michael Franken even noted that he has known Soleimani for decades and that he’s “respected in military circles for his military acumen.”

As for Theresa Greenfield, not surprisingly, Iowans haven’t heard from her, as she’s likely been in the windowless basement. However, Greenfield and the other candidates should come clean as to whether they support Kerry and the Obama administration’s decision to send money to the largest state-sponsor of terrorism?
