Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement in response to Iowa's record-breaking surplus: 

"While Washington, D.C. has spent our nation's economy into a recession and record high inflation, Iowa has taken a different approach, and it's working. Thanks to the leadership of Gov. Reynolds and Legislative Republicans, Iowans' priorities are funded and our state is moving forward. Iowa Democrats want to take the D.C. approach on every issue, spending our state into debt, record high inflation and increased taxes, which is exactly why they should never hold power. 

"The leadership Governor Reynolds and the Republican Legislature have presented is a lesson that leaders in Washington should take a look at. In Iowa, America still works."
