DES MOINES - Lanon Baccam, a paid activist and alumni of Hillary Clinton's Senate staff and President Biden's 2020 Deputy State Director, has deleted posts supporting President Biden, his work on the Biden campaign, and his criticisms of President Trump, according to a report from the Des Moines Register.

DES MOINES - The Iowa House Democrats recently posted on X/Twitter claiming they "were proud to raise teacher pay for new and veteran teachers."

DES MOINES - Today, the Iowa Supreme Court unanimously ruled against Democrat State Auditor Rob Sand in a lawsuit about his refusal to produce government records. 

One thing is clear: Rob Sand is corrupt and cannot be trusted in office.

DES MOINES - It has been nine days since Iran surprised the world with airstrike attacks on Israel. Democrats and Republicans across the country have stood united in their condemnation of these attacks - including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Joni Ernst. 

DES MOINES – Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement in response to former Congresswoman Liz Cheney's lecture at Drake University tonight:

"It’s telling that Liz Cheney feels more at home on a liberal college campus than meeting with Iowans in the true heart of our state after being soundly rejected by her own voters.

“Cheney has done nothing but deceitfully push an agenda, tear at the fabric of our party, and alienate GOP members.

“The only people who listen to Liz Cheney are woke liberals, who were the ones leading the charge against her father a few decades ago. What a joke."

DES MOINES – Today, Iowa Senate Democrats Sarah Trone Garriott (D-West Des Moines),  Nate Boulton (D-Des Moines), and Eric Giddens (D-Cedar Falls), voted against a bill aimed at increasing starting teacher pay. HF 2612 sought to raise the statutory minimum pay for new teachers in Iowa from $33,500 to $50,000 over the next two years, thereby positioning Iowa's minimum teacher salary as the 5th highest in the nation.

In addition, HF 2612 included provisions such as:

• Incentivizing retired teachers to assist in filling workplace gaps in schools.
• Raising pay for paraprofessionals.
• Providing a 2.5% increase in school funding.
• Exploring methods to enhance services, consolidate buildings, offer oversight, and deliver better outcomes in special education.
• Aligning AEA chief salaries more closely with superintendents.

"Today's vote demonstrates that Senate Democrats prioritize education unions over teachers. Despite the opportunity to raise starting teacher pay, they voted against it," said GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann. "As a professor myself, I understand the necessity of having new, young teachers in every district, particularly in rural Iowa. Trone Garriott, Boulton, and Giddens have undoubtedly made it more challenging to attract teachers to those districts. They should be held accountable."

DES MOINES – Iowa Democrats know all hope is lost. And now after the legislative filing deadline has come and gone, it's obvious that current liberal legislators are jumping ship on the chances of Democrats ever taking back control of the House or Senate.

Here's the disastrous rundown for legislative Democrats: This year several Dems are leaving the Legislature: 

Sen. Todd Taylor is abandoning his seat to run for a county-level seat
Sen. Molly Donahue can't get out fast enough to run for a county-level seat 
Sen. Pam Jochum is the lame duck leader of her superminoirty caucus
Rep. John Forbes is bailing to run for a county-level seat
Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad says he stayed too long 
Rep. Sharon Steckman doesn't have anything else to run for, she's just jumping ship

Not only do Democrats have a problem retaining their incumbent legislators, but their candidate recruitment is, well, just sad. Let's take a look: 

Two-time loser and party switcher got drug out for just one more; 
Pro-pornography-in-school candidate; 
and they failed to recruit ANY candidates in former Democrat stronghold seats in Fort Dodge or Keokuk. 
 
"Even Democrats agree - they have no chance of winning in November, which is why incumbent legislative Democrats are all abandoning their cause" said Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann. "It's too bad Sen. Minority Leader Jochum is retiring before her 'ambitious' plan to pick up a majority by 2029 has come to fruition."

"The Supreme Court unanimously affirmed what we all saw as a brazen, unconstitutional power grab attempting to cause election interference. The checks and balances worked against an unbalanced and unhinged effort to trash the Constitution and take away the right of people to vote in a free and fair election.

"Even the most liberal Supreme Court Justices agree, the real threat to American democracy is from the radical left."
