Chairman Kaufmann Responds to the House Finally Passing USMCA After Prioritizing Impeachment
I applaud Sens. Ernst and Grassly, Gov. Reynolds, and Secretary Naig for putting enormous pressure on House Democrats
DES MOINES -- Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement after over 365 days of waiting for House Democrats to pass USMCA:
“It’s about time. While this is a huge win for President Trump and Iowa farmers and manufacturers, it’s shameful the only reason Democrats finally took action is because their partisan attempt to overturn the 2016 election has backfired. Iowans won’t remember Democrats like Cindy Axne, Abby Finkenauer, and Dave Loebsack as having passed the USMCA -- they’ll remember how they wasted months pushing impeachment while Iowa farmers and small businesses suffered.
“Their vote today doesn’t change anything in Iowans’ minds. When Reps. Axne and Finkenauer went to DC, they became part of the problem, not the solution. I applaud Sens. Ernst and Grassley, Gov. Reynolds, and Secretary Naig for putting enormous pressure on House Democrats to get this historic trade deal ratified.”
