RPI Statement on 2020 Democrats Rejecting Disaster Relief Fundding
DES MOINES — In response to several 2020 Democrats voting against disaster relief funding that would provide Iowans with desperately needed assistance for flood recovery, Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann issued the following statement:
“As Iowans struggle to recover from historic flooding, Democratic presidential hopefuls Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Amy Klobuchar voted to block disaster relief funding for family farms and rural communities devastated by the floods. These candidates come to our first in the nation state begging Iowans for their votes — but when Iowans needed them most, they were quickly abandoned in an unconscionable act of partisanship. As they continue campaigning across the state, they’ll have a hard time justifying their vote to Iowans — it is abundantly clear Democrats haven’t learned their lesson and will continue writing off rural America.”
