DES MOINES — Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann issued the following statement regarding Bernie Sanders’ campaign stops throughout the state:

“It’s no coincidence that Sen. Bernie Sanders is avoiding Western Iowa during his campaign stops this weekend. Sanders was one of several Democratic U.S. Senators running for president that voted to block disaster relief funding for Iowa flood victims. In many cases, these Iowans have lost everything — their homes, livestock and small businesses. Yet, Sanders and his colleagues come to Iowa pandering for votes. They should be ashamed by the way they have played politics with Iowans’ lives.”
