DES MOINES – Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement in response to Robert O’Rourke’s first Iowa visit: 

“Robert ‘Beto’ O’Rourke, the new poster boy for the Democratic party, pretends to be a moderate while touting radical, trillion dollar government-run programs like the Green New Deal and single-payer health care. What’s more, he recently said he ‘absolutely’ supports tearing down the existing border wall and wants open borders. Since Iowans increasingly support the wall and want to bolster our national security, O’Rourke will have a hard time justifying his plan to allow drug dealers and human traffickers to openly cross our sovereign border.”
