DES MOINES, Iowa -- Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement declaring David Young the winner of tonight’s third district debate: 

“Tonight, David Young sent a clear message to third congressional district voters that he is committed to having their backs in Congress. Young has a proven track record of working tirelessly for Iowa’s middle class families and small businesses -- from cutting taxes and reducing government regulations, to protecting those with pre-existing conditions and defending social security -- he will always put the priorities of southwest Iowans first.

“On the other hand, when Cindy Axne isn’t playing hooky, she has a failed record of siding with Nancy Pelosi and her socialist agenda on every issue -- from radical environmental proposals like the Green New Deal, to a public option that would force rural Iowa hospitals to close. It is time to send David Young back to Congress to continue his proven record of standing up for Iowans and fighting against the out-of-touch policies being pushed by the radical Left.”
