Foreign policy now a prominent issue in Iowa Senate race
Republican Joni Ernst, an Iowa Senate candidate and Iraq War veteran, blasted her Democratic opponent Rep. Bruce Braley (D., Iowa) on Friday for switching his position on battling Islamic State (IS) terrorists in Iraq and Syria.
Ernst frequently reminds Iowa voters that “my boots were on that ground” when she discusses the U.S.-led coalition to defeat IS. Foreign ...
DES MOINES – Before many Americans learned about the gruesome beheadings by terrorists in Iraq, Congressman Braley went to the House floor and voted to bar funding for ANY combat operation in the region.
Braley’s vote was a clear signal to these Islamic terrorists that they could continue killing innocent civilians without any ramifications.
This isn’t the first time that he’s waved the white flag as in 2012, Congressman Braley voted against funding our troops in Afghanistan while they were in harms way. Braley also voted in 2007, to cut off funding to our brave men and women while they were fighting in Iraq.
“Congressman Braley’s ...
DES MOINES – Before Congressman Bruce Braley wrongly told Iowans that that he voted to authorize military strikes against ISIL the congressional record reveals that just three months ago Congressman Braley voted to bar funding for US troops to fight ISIL in Iraq.
Congressman Braley proudly supported California Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s legislation that barred funding for ANY combat mission to fight terrorists in Iraq.
“Congressman Braley lied about voting to authorize military strikes in Syria, because he deliberately wanted to mislead voters from his actual vote to bar ANY funding to fight terrorists in Iraq,” said Republican Party of ...
DES MOINES – Three months ago, after the second largest city in Iraq fell into the hands of ISIL terrorists, Congressman Bruce Braley proudly cast a vote to bar funding against any military operation in Iraq.
As Roll Call reports:
“With President Barack Obama grappling with how to respond to the escalating violence in Iraq and the rapid rise of an insurgent terrorist organization there, House Democrats have spoken: They overwhelmingly want to cut off funding for combat in the region, especially boots on the ground. Late Thursday, 142 Democrats [including Congressman Bruce Braley] and a handful of Republicans joined forces behind an amendment ...
DES MOINES – Congressman Bruce Braley is a typical Washington politician who clearly doesn’t like being told he’s wrong. When confronted by the Sioux City Journal about his probably false statement about voting to authorize military strikes, Congressman Braley not only didn’t back down, he doubled-down on his false statement.
As the Sioux City Journal reports:
“The arrogance of Congressman Braley doubling-down on his misleading claim that he voted to authorize military strikes in the Islamic State is remarkable,” said Republican Party of Iowa spokesman Jahan Wilcox. “The fact that Braley can’t even admit he was clueless ...

When confronted by the Sioux City Journal’s editorial board that his statement to give President Obama authority for military strikes was untrue, Congressman Braley doubled-down on his statement.

DES MOINES – After voting this summer to prohibit funding for any combat mission against terrorists in Iraq, Congressman Bruce Braley came back to Iowa and falsely claimed that he voted to authorize military strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
While Braley did vote to give President Obama permission to train and arm Syrian rebels with weapons, Congress has never voted to give the President authority to engage in military strikes against ISIS.

DES MOINES – Congressman Bruce Braley said that he read every page of ObamaCare, but when it came to the most important vote this year, which authorized President Obama to arm Syrian rebels with weapons to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), he didn't even take the time to read the bill.
During Sunday's debate, Braley falsely claimed that he voted to give President Obama authority for military strikes, but according to the New York Times the legislationexplicitly said that it was not an authorization of force against ISIS.
As Fox News reports:
"It’s remarkable that Congressman Braley didn't even know ...
