DES MOINES -- At a press conference earlier today, Speaker Pelosi said she would support Sen. Sanders and his big-government, socialist agenda if he wins the Democratic nomination. This would come with a hefty price tag for taxpayers -- Medicare for All and the Green New Deal alone would cost an estimated $125 trillion. 

A recent study found the Green New Deal would cost Iowa households $76,683 in the first year ALONE. To put this in perspective, the Census Bureau estimated median household income in Iowa to be about $58,000 in 2018. A vast majority of Iowans wouldn’t be able to afford the GND, even if it was their one and only expense.  

It looks increasingly likely that self-proclaimed Democratic socialist and registered “Independent” Bernie Sanders -- who once called breadlines “a good thing” -- will end up being the Democrats’ nominee for president. And now that Pelosi appears to be onboard with socialist Sanders, it begs the question: Will Cindy Axne, Abby Finkenauer, Rita Hart, and J.D. Scholten support Bernie Sanders if he’s the Democratic nominee for president? 

“It's clear Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders have almost accomplished a complete takeover of the Democratic Party," said Jeff Kaufmann, Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa. “Will Iowa Democratic congressional candidates once again side with Pelosi and support the socialist revolution of AOC and Bernie Sanders, or will they listen to Iowans and adhere to the resolve that America will never be a socialist country?”
