Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement in response to Cindy Axne voting for Washington, D.C. statehood: 

"Axne's vote to make Washington, D.C. a state shows that she will fall in line with radicals in the Democrat Party every time," said Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann. "Making D.C. a state does nothing for Iowans in the third district. All it does is consolidate Democrat power in Washington and diminish representation from Iowa, a move we won't let Iowans forget it."
