DES MOINES, Iowa -- Over the weekend, Senator Ernst held “Joni’s Ride Across Iowa,” visiting Sioux City, Carroll, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and the Quad Cities to raise money for the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation’s Derecho Disaster Recovery and the Puppy Jake Foundation, an Iowa-based nonprofit organization that works to provide veterans with service dogs.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • “Senator Joni Ernst leads a pack of motorcyclists to kick of Joni’s Ride Across Iowa” | KTIV

“Before heading out onto the road, Ernst shared her appreciation for her supporters throughout her campaign. ‘That level of energy and enthusiasm that's what's going to carry me through the day. I know we're going to win this race, it's going to be done by getting out and interacting with people.’"

  • “Iowa's U.S. Sen. Ernst brings her motorcycle ride across Iowa to Davenport” | Quad City Times

“Ernst said Republicans are ‘fighting for the direction of our country’ and that national Democratic leaders, such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, and Ernst’s opponent, Theresa Greenfield, are ‘trying to push us on that path to the left.’"

Meanwhile, her liberal opponent, failed real estate executive Theresa Greenfield, was busy raising out-of-state money with disgraced North Carolina U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham. Cunningham is currently under investigation by the U.S. Army Reserves for an extramarital affair he has admitted to with the wife of a combat veteran. Although they tried to cover-up his involvement, the event still benefitted Cunningham and his liberal allies.

“While Sen. Ernst was busy traveling the state, visiting with Iowans and raising money for important caucuses like derecho recovery and veterans in need, Greenfield was raising dirty money with coastal liberals and a scandal-ridden Democrat,” said Aaron Britt, Communications Director for the Republican Party of Iowa. “Her actions are further proof that Iowans can’t trust Theresa due to her complete lack of judgement. She’s clearly more concerned with raising money than running a campaign that reflects the ethics and values Iowans expect.”
