In response to American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten's comments criticizing Iowa Republicans' landmark school choice bill, Republican Party of Iowa Co-Chair Linda Upmeyer released the following statement:

"We all know what happened when Democrats across the country listened to – or colluded with – Randi Weingarten and her union: children being shut out of the classroom with immeasurable lost progress.

"Weingarten coming out against the school choice bill should, if anything, reassure Iowans that we're on the right path. Iowans can always count on Republicans in the Statehouse and Terrace Hill alike to continue to do what's best for Iowans – not union bosses."
