Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement in response to Ras Smith suspending his campaign for Governor: 

"The Iowa Democrat establishment is pushing candidates out of the primary while facing an uphill battle against Gov. Kim Reynolds. Iowans continue to reject the radical ideas of the Democrat Party.

"Gov. Reynolds is in a strong position heading into November. She is the proven leader Iowa needs. She has maintained a steady, thoughtful approach to getting our children back into the classroom, keeping Iowa businesses open, and standing up to the federal overreach of the Biden Administration. Gov. Reynolds has fought for us every step of the way and I know Iowans are ready to re-elect her in 2022."
