DES MOINES – In response to Governor Kim Reynolds calling for a special legislative session to enact pro-life legislation in light of the Iowa Supreme Court's deadlocked 3-3 ruling that permanently blocked Iowa's Fetal Heartbeat Law, Republican Party of Iowa Co-Chair Linda Upmeyer issued the following statement:
 
"Preserving and protecting the sanctity of life is a cause Iowans hold dear. In light of the Iowa Supreme Court's deadlocked ruling that blocked our Fetal Heartbeat Law that was signed in 2018 from going into effect, I commend Governor Kim Reynolds for calling a special legislative session to once again address and hopefully settle this matter of utmost importance to Iowans.

"We must not and cannot let down the righteous cause of defending our Right to Life. Our laws should reflect that we cherish every life."
