Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement on the U.S. House impeachment vote.

"This impeachment is Nancy Pelosi's newest political skit. For weeks now Democrats have been calling for the country to come together and unify, but this political theater only divides us further. 

"Impeachment isn't a tool for political gamesmanship. The fact that Cindy Axne couldn't even bother showing up to vote shows us how little respect she has for the Constitution.

"President Trump has already committed to the peaceful transition of power and only has seven days left in his term. It's time we turn towards the future and focus on the issues that lay ahead."
